MADE IN CYLAND

There was a Greek philosopher, Anaximander, who was the first to suggest that all things, including the Earth and the sky, arise from a single primal principle, the Apeiron, the boundless source of all opposites. The Earth is its dense form, and air its opposite. They are different expressions of the same continuous process of transformation.

Little of his work has survived, but one fragment remains:

All things originate from one another and vanish into one another

According to necessity;

They give each other justice and recompense for injustice

In conformity with the order of time.

In one wing of the building, a swarm of oscillators moves from dissonance toward harmony. But like in the Shepard effect, never reaching its goal. At the opposite end, there is the reverse movement of a disintegrating harmony, also eternal, endless, and unattainable.
