Within the NOVA Eroica Buonconvento, CYLAND MediaArtLab presents Symphony for 2 Bicycles, a live audiovisual performance by Alexey Grachev, Aleksandr Bochkov, and Matvei Peshkov. The performance will take place on Friday, April 10 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 11 at 6:00 PM at NOVA Eroica Buonconvento Village.

This site-specific performance positions cycling as both instrument and system. Two riders pedal stationary bicycles connected to a custom digital interface, where cadence directly modulates sound and visual output. Variations in tempo and effort generate rhythm, timbre, and intensity, producing a continuously evolving audiovisual composition.

Structured as a dialogue, the work reflects the dynamics of riding together: pacing,

synchronization, and response. One performer introduces a rhythmic or tonal element, the other adapts or disrupts it. Shifts between alignment and divergence shape the composition in real time. Developed as a site-responsive work, each iteration engages its context. The Eroica edition will likewise take shape resonating with its setting.

The performance is part of Nova Eroica Buonconvento 2026, a gravel cyclosportive taking

place on April 12, 2026 in Buonconvento, Tuscany. First held in 2017, it originates from L’Eroica—a long-standing Italian initiative dedicated to preserving the heritage of cycling on historic “strade bianche” (white gravel roads). While L’Eroica emphasizes vintage bicycles and traditional aesthetics, Nova Eroica extends these values into a ontemporary context, opening participation to modern road, gravel, and cyclo-cross bikes.
