Max/MSP Course for Beginners 2.0

CYLAND MediaArtLab invites applications for a free online Max/MSP course led by artist and educator Nikita Bugaev. The course is designed specifically for participants with little or no prior experience in Max/MSP and focuses on hands-on learning through live interaction.


This course will help you: 

– to get comfortable with MAX interface and built-in library; 

– understand how objects work in practical ways; 

– build skills progressively through hands-on exercises.


Topics include: 

– sample interaction: record and manipulate audio, explore time-stretching & basics of granular synthesis; 

– waves and tones: use oscillators, filters, and multichannel objects for sonic exploration; 

– sequencing: create simple patterns with probability and randomization; 

– advanced techniques: work with presets, morphing, lists, and procedural tools.



The sessions will be held online. Participation is free and open to applicants from all countries and experience levels. The group will be limited to 10 participants. The course includes 7 live sessions and is fully based on live interaction; no recordings will be available.


The application deadline is April 19. 

Selected participants will be notified by email on April 21.
