Open Call: Max/MSP Course for Beginners

Online CYLAND MediaArtLab invites applications for an online Max/MSP course led by Nikita Bugaev. Max/MSP is a creative playground for building interactive software and working with sound and other media.

This course will help you: – to get comfortable with MAX interface and built-in library; – understand how objects work in practical ways; – build skills progressively through hands-on exercises. Topics include: – sample interaction: record and manipulate audio, explore time-stretching & basics of granular synthesis; – waves and tones: use oscillators, filters, and multichannel objects for sonic exploration; – sequencing: create simple patterns with probability and randomization; – advanced techniques: work with presets, morphing, lists, and procedural tools.

Nikita Bugaev is an artist and educator with a background in sound design, composition and contemporary art.


The sessions will be held online. Participation is free and open to applicants from all countries and experience levels. The group will be limited to 10 participants. The course includes 7 live sessions and is fully based on live interaction; no recordings will be available.

The open call closes on February 7. Selected participants will be notified by email on February 11, and the program will begin on February 14.
